Hello! I just wanted to ask if, after having applied the submission form, should there be a confirmation email or something? Thank you!
No, there’s no email confirmation, but there should be a confirmation page after you submit. We have been getting a lot of names. If you’re worried yours might not have been submitted, just message us your name off-anon and we’ll let you know.
I've been thinking about joining this zine and I know that this project is HUGE right now and my friends REALLY want me to participate but I'm not entirely sure. It's just that I'm not sure if you ASSIGN us characters or we choose. I would be fine with being assigned one but I don't want to get one I don't particularly KNOW... I hope you can answer this soon
A note on how we go about distributing characters, since there’s been questions about that too.
I won’t get into the nitty gritty on the whole claiming process, but basically we do it on a first come-first serve system. We want our artists to draw a character they’re passionate about. They can draw authors or they can draw from any kind of written fiction. Fairy tales, plays, fables, mythology, legends, short stories, novellas, novels, etc. are all fair game. They have the whole world, from classic to contemporary to choose from.
Hiya i really want to send an application form to join the ladies of literature 2 zine, but i don't have a portfolio, would my tumblr art tag do, or will i have to make one ?
We’ve gotten a bunch of questions like this, so I’ll answer this publicly.
You can send us any website—it can be a blog, formal portfolio, art tag, whatever—anything as long as your work is CLEARLY VISIBLE and organized neatly in ONE place. Doesn’t have to be super fancy. It’s just about making sure we see your best work. Just makes it easier for us when we go through everyone’s applications. :)
Hi there :) I'm super keen in trying my luck sending in my portfolio for Volume 2. I was just wondering though would the portfolio already have to include specific illustrations we had in mind to be submitted to the zine or is it just mainly looking to see how each person's illustration style is like? Thank you!
Hi there! With the open submission, we’re just looking for a general sense of your work. You can point us to specific pieces in your portfolio that you’d like to draw our attention to, but it’s only so we can see what you can do.
Only after we review all of the submitted portfolios, will we be asking our final roster of artists to make new pieces specifically for this anthology. Best of luck! Can’t wait to check out your stuff!
Hey everyone, get ready for a big Ladies of Literature-related announcement tomorrow!~ <333
Any idea what it might be?
